Background

Fundación Mecenas was created to uplift and promote queer art as a tool for inclusion, wellbeing, and social transformation for LGBT+ communities in Chile. In this context, I was entrusted with the development of their institutional website, with the challenge of visually and functionally translating their bold and transformative vision.

One of the project’s core components was the creation of an artist directory, a thoughtfully curated space designed to highlight the work of queer artists and provide them with visibility in a safe and accessible digital environment. The overarching goal was to design a platform that felt clear, emotionally connected to its communities, and aligned with the foundation’s artistic, social, and cultural focus.

The interface prioritises simplicity and warmth, enabling intuitive navigation through curatorial content, open calls, and community-facing activities.

Key Takeaways
1
An interface designed to be accessible and emotionally resonant, enabling clear and fluid navigation. The priority is to offer a welcoming experience, sensitive to the needs of the LGBT+ community and consistent with the foundation’s visual identity.
2
Development of an artist directory with search filters, conceived as a curated digital space to showcase their work in a safe and accessible environment.
3
Conceived as a platform that visually and functionally translates Fundación Mecenas’s artistic, social, and cultural approach. Its design balances simplicity, warmth, and purpose, building a digital identity aligned with its vision of expanding queer art into new spaces of visibility and impact.
